- BACKUP OS/2 INI FILES BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH DRIVER INSTALLATION
-
-
-
- Most IBM literature recommends to backup three critical INI files
- for OS/2 - CONFIG.SYS, OS2.INI, AND OS2SYS.INI.
-
-
- OS/2 users have encountered problems with certain MBs using the
- functions of the PTI1s506.ADD driver in 32-bit operation on HPFS
- partitions. If this problem appears in the system, it appears
- everytime after shutdown. It would not be an intermittent occurance.
-
- We advise backing up your three OS/2 INI files manually or with a
- shareware utility which is distributed through an OS/2 BBS.
-
- This driver has a /W switch which may be used to force 16-bit operation
- when the Mainboard VL-Bus proves incompatible with the PROMISE
- driver.
-
-
- Other tips with troubleshooting:
-
- Use the /V (verbose) and /W (16-bit) switches for the PTI1s506.ADD
- driver.
-
- Disable the Video Shadow RAM on the MB bios - This is not used by OS/2
- operation.
-
- Create an OS/2 bootable diskette to access HPFS OS/2 Desktop partitions.
